CLE Opportunity: Beyond Physical Abuse: Understanding Coercive Control in Domestic Violence Cases

April 4 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Domestic violence is often viewed simply as physical abuse, but it is more complex than that. Domestic violence is a multifaceted issue based on power and control. To understand how perpetrators use coercive tactics to control their partner, experts Dr. Eric Bernstein and Brenda Alter-Kowalski will explain these dynamics and how they affect our family court cases.

Allegheny County Law Library is proud and excited to be partnering with The Honorable Judge Henry Taylor to present this CLE opportunity. The presentation will occur in The Honorable Judge Henry Taylor’s courtroom, 712, in the City-County Building. We are participating in a brown bag lunch; therefore, lunch will not be provided but please feel free to bring your lunch and light snacks and water will be provided.

Due to limited capacity in person attendance will be capped at 20 people on a first come first serve basis. This event is being held Hybrid and those who cannot attend in-person can attend via Microsoft Teams.  Please fill out the attendance form by April 2nd at 9am.
